Brad Lander for NYC Comptroller Transition

Message from Brad Lander:

Thank you New York City! You voted for a just and equitable recovery, a thriving city that works for all our neighborhoods, and one that’s more prepared for the crises to come. As your next Comptroller, I’ll fight to build that city. As budget watchdog, pension fiduciary, and chief accountability officer, the Comptroller’s office has a strong set of tools to make our government work better for all New Yorkers. I’m eager to put them to work to ensure an inclusive economic recovery, tackle ongoing gender and racial disparities in city services, and confront long term challenges including the risks to our city posed by climate change. I’m so grateful for your support, and I’ll work hard every day to live up to it.

Brad’s Priorities

Rebuild a More Equitable Economy
Brad will help secure a strong and inclusive recovery by ensuring we are budgeting wisely and investing strategically to rebuild an economy that works for all New Yorkers, starting by bringing transparency and accountability to federal rescue spending.

Hold NYC Government Accountable
As NYC's "Chief Accountability Officer" Brad will focus on making city agencies work better, with a keen focus on auditing for gender and racial justice to tackle glaring disparities which threaten the long-term prosperity of New York City’s families, neighborhoods, and economy.

Secure NYC’s Future
The job of the Comptroller is to take the long-term view on our city and invest in a more equitable and sustainable future, for public sector retirees, for our city finances, for our infrastructure, and for our neighborhoods. Brad will bring all the tools of the office to bear on confronting the climate crisis, which poses the most serious long-term risks to our city.
